| In vitro study | ISO-1 significantly inhibited cytokine activity in vitro. It inhibits the release of tumor necrosis factor from macrophages isolated from LPS-treated wild-type mice, but has no effect on the release of cytokines from MIF-deficient macrophages. |
| In vivo study | For severe sepsis caused by endotoxin or cecal ligation and puncture, ISO-1 treatment significantly increased survival. In a mouse asthma model established with OVA, airway hyperresponsiveness was prevented by ISO-1. ISO-1 attenuates ozone-induced cell recruitment, cytokine release, and airway hyperresponsiveness, but does not affect treatment of emphysema. |
